Lisa Bratzke (Eta Cohort), Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing, increases student preparation and readiness for class by requiring students to submit thought questions on readings and activities before each class session.

In addition to the benefit of increased student readiness, Lisa now spends more time on the topics students find difficult based on the questions they submit, thereby making class time more meaningful and valuable for everyone. The benefits of this method are such that Lisa incorporates it into the rest of her classes.

Outside of the classroom, Lisa focuses on cognitive changes that occur in the context of multi-morbidity and how those cognitive changes affect an individual’s ability to self-manage their chronic illnesses, maintain functional independence, and their risk of dementia.
